"Proud to be an American!"

Buttermilk Falls
In the Town of Long Lake, NY
I suspect you are here because you’ve heard that I am a candidate for the position of town supervisor for the Town of Long Lake. You’ve probably also heard that I’ve created this site to post my platform, answer questions and to keep interested voters apprised of issues relating to the election. If that’s why you are here, you’ve come to the right place. If not, well... thanks for stopping by anyway. You see, I feel it is important for voters to have a clear choice of candidates in all elections.
So, let me get right to the point. First, my platform:
- I believe that government/elected officials are employees of the tax payers, and as such have an obligation to be fiscally responsible, and accountable, to their constituents. I believe that government should operate within a reasonable budget just as their constituents do. To that end, I do not support the proposal for town funding of "affordable housing" in our community at this time.
- I believe government should be transparent with full public disclosure to the extent allowed by law.
- I believe that in many ways our community has become stagnant and would be better served if we use our resources to explore options for growth that will lead to additional employment opportunities. Our location within the park will limit those options. However, this also provides us with an advantage. Our community already has a thriving summer tourism business. We should be actively promoting our community for fall foliage and winter activities to enhance tourism during those seasons. We should also be exploring all other options to entice new businesses to come to Long Lake such as internet based businesses that can be run from home, technology related businesses, etc. I realize that due to the current economic climate as well as other factors beyond our control, growth and/or expansion may be difficult if not impossible to achieve. We should, none the less, actively pursue business growth and development.
- I believe one of the town supervisor’s primary duties is to supervise. I recognize the need for the supervisor to attend certain meetings and other functions at the county and state level. As supervisor I would use discretion in choosing which of these meetings I attend to allow me to maximize my time as a full time supervisor.
- I am concerned for the senior citizens in our community. As supervisor I would seek our senior’s opinions to address their concerns. As a starting point, I would seek senior volunteers to serve on a committee with either myself or other board members to identify issues affecting them, and then formulate proposals to address those issues.
- I believe a supervisor/manager in any position must maintain an open door policy, must be respectful of all who come through that door and must take full responsibility for their decisions and actions. As a supervisor I firmly believe that "the buck stops here".
Please understand that my platform reflects my beliefs and expectations of all elected officials and are the standards that I would hold myself to, and is NOT meant to imply anything about the current administration. In fact, I want to make it clear that I'm not running against the incumbent, rather I am running for the position of town supervisor. I hope this clears up any potential misconceptions.
Feel free to email me at admin@adirondackacres.com if you have any questions regarding anything you have read here, or any issues or concerns you may have regarding our community or the upcoming election.
Thank you for your interest and anticipated support.
Best regards,

PS - I will entertain the idea of posting questions from voters along with my reply if enough individuals express an interest.
